Curtis R.Jones How I spent my Birthday, May 10, 1967….The “Forbidden Zone”, near the Cambodian border, South Vietnam….
Curtis R. Jones and Mother.
my last combat day in Vietnam (1967). Although I had been wounded (superficially) on a few previous occasions, this is the one that took me out of Vietnam and into the Valley Forge Army hospital for almost 9 months and 11 operations.
Also, for my Vietnam veteran brothers, today (May 19th) is Ho Chi Minh’s Birthday.
This guy next to me saved my butt….after I was hit by 5 machine gun bullets, this guy ran through heavy fire to get me, picked me up and ran to a waiting chopper…to my brother Billy Diaz, who is now in heaven….your selflessness and heroism will never be forgotten…
